Earthly Threads has been fighting fast fashion by giving old items new life since February 2020.
Here to influence a new generation of innovative and sustainable fashion. We focus on quality, ethical production, and environmental awareness. Slow Fashion is encouraging people to think about their fashion choices and we are here to guide you one STITCH at a time! By repurposing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, we hope our art encourages you to rethink your consumption habits and consider the impact on our environment. Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, + Recycle!
Hi friends! I’m Faith, owner and creator of Earthly Threads Art!
I want to tell you about how Earthly Threads came to be and some of my journey to this present moment.
Earthly Threads started as a passion project around 2016 when I was in college for Fashion Design. My professor encouraged me to try hand embroidery for a project which would be the start of a forever hobby that I now love so much. For one of our projects we had to create a name for our fashion label. My Mamaw and I came up with the name “Earthly Threads” which has stuck around for 7 years now. At the same time I was traveling all around the country to music festivals and selling Tie Dyed t-shirts with my best friend Melia. “Dyed & Confused” was our small business helping us pay for our travels and experiences. My mom helped us get started while also starting her own tie dye business “Once Upon A Craft”. I met my partner and so many friends while selling art and tie dye tees around the country. Those years are some of my favorites and I’m blessed to have so many memories from that time. You can still find me at festivals selling my creations and hopefully live embroidering soon!
I was also working for my Aunt Kim at her Consignment Shop in Fairmont were I worked for 5 years reselling secondhand clothing. Secondhand clothing has always been a part of my life from shopping garage sales to receiving hand me downs from family members. I fell in love with “Savvy Consignment” and secondhand fashion so much that I went back to college to get a degree in Sustainable Design, Environmental Protection, and Environmental Change. These years were some of the hardest and most emotionally exhausting for me while learning about climate change and the conditions our Earth was and is still facing. In the end it was worth it and very influential on my small business and personal life. Sustainability became one of the most important things in my life and I felt I needed to spread environmental awareness through my art.
This is when my Art met Sustainability. Slow Fashion is Earthly Threads. My hope is to continue to create fashion with secondhand materials and influence others to do the same! Bringing new life to old items fulfills my heart instead of filling up landfills. One day Earthly Threads will have a store front full of local artist, slow fashion creators, and consignment for the community. When and where is unknown but I believe we’ll get there! Manifesting!
I want to thank the people in my life that have always supported me and my vision! Thank you to the people who purchase, share, like, and comment on my socials! I am grateful to have you here and a part of my community.
